Remember when the way to get in contact with people was to sift through a playing deck full of business cards and hope that the number works for that specific party? That model has definitely changed. Now, LinkedIn controls the contact sphere—which is where I met the person who would give me the opportunity of a lifetime to work a promising company.
I recently graduated from my university, paid off half of my student loans, but I still needed someone to take a chance and hire a young—but work hungry worker. A buddy of mine told me to check out some potential employers via LinkedIn. This was a blessing in disguise. I hooked up with a local entrepreneur who wholeheartedly believed that my skill set and affability was going to be a huge benefit to his company. After meeting in person, becoming friends, and signing a few documents, I jumped right into becoming a strong component of a very successful business. I would never have thought that I could garner my first job out of college though a web-based connection hub.
