Using the following “tricks” learn how to get a job fast in today’s job market.

Tricks to Help You Think Outside the Box

Often times, we need to use the tried and true methods, just a little differently.  Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Use LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one of the most powerful networking tools used today with over 7 million members. And they aren’t all job seekers – there are hiring managers on there looking for you too!

Be sure your profile is up to date and states the most relevant experience to the type of job you are seeking. The title on top of your page speaks to that as well. So, for example, if you are seeking an Executive Assistant role: The title under your name may read “Experienced Executive Assistant”. This gives a hiring manager a reason to look at your profile and potentially contact you. You can also opt to have your email in a place where anyone can see it.

Get connected

Join as many groups relevant to the industry and type of role you are seeking as possible. Make sure these groups have more than 1000 members. You can join up to 52 groups at once. This opens up your ability to be viewed by people outside of your first connections, and expands your search capacity as well.

Ask for Help

Utilize all of your connections, look through their connections and ask who is hiring. Also, ask for introductions to hiring managers at companies you may want to work for. This will help you to stand out from the rest and avoid the same job boards that everyone else is using.

Use a Real Resume

Send your resume via “snail mail” and use a colored envelope! First, most people are sending out their resume electronically, so yours is sure to stand out via “snail mail’. Using a colored envelope will make that letter noticeable in a sea of white envelopes (Not too bright folks, maybe a light blue or yellow).

Belief

Lastly, but certainly not least – believe in yourself! Have confidence in your ability and maintain an attitude that you will be a valuable asset to any company lucky enough to have you. Positive energy goes a long way!
