It can be difficult to know where to start when developing business relationships with like-minded individuals. Our expert guest blogger shares her advice about meeting people and finding opportunities. Learn how participation is often the key ingredient to a successful networking plan.

Participate and Opportunities Materialize

I participate in a mastermind group that includes monthly physical newsletter, CD of an interview with a successful business owner and an on-line webinar with question and answer sessions.

Working alone in my business can be isolating and sometimes it is difficult to know if I am on the right track. The mastermind group keeps me connected with others in business, gives me new ideas and keeps me motivated. But this only happens if I participate!

It’s very important I believe to actually listen to the CD and find one or two ideas to implement. The same with the newsletter. And I always have at least one question to ask at the on-line forum. I want to make the most of my investment and so I ensure that I participate as much as possible in the opportunties offered.

As a result, the mastermind group owner has become aware of who I am, acknowledges me at the on-line forums and has invited me to make an offer through his newsletter. These opportunities only came about because I chose to proactively participate.
